All employees on record employed by a CSSEA member or associate at the time of nomination and date of the annual general meeting are eligible for nomination. In addition, former employees who have retired from a CSSEA member or associate within the previous 12 months are also eligible for nomination.

Nominations must be for work done in service to or on behalf of a CSSEA member or associate either as a permanent or contract employee.

Nominators can be co-workers, clients, family members or members of the public. They do not have to be employed by a CSSEA member or associate. If a nominator does not directly work with the nominee, a secondary nominator within the CSSEA member or associate must second the nomination.

Nominations are submitted online through the BC Community Social Services Awards of Excellence website.

Nominations for the 2022 BC Community Social Services Awards of Excellence will be accepted until April 22, 2022.

Individuals nominated must demonstrate a pattern of going above and beyond, and inspiring change in others. They are admired for their achievements, respected for their dynamic professionalism and know-how, and have had a positive impact on the community social services sector in BC.

• Be clear and concise. Stick to the recommended 500 word count.
• Provide specific examples with descriptions of how the nominee went above and beyond the daily responsibilities of the job. The more examples the better!
• Demonstrate results. Where possible, include measurable results (e.g., clients receiving services in a more timely and/or professional manner, staff morale increasing, etc.).
• Avoid jargon. While you are familiar with the nominee’s work, the members of the selection committee may not be.
• If acronyms are used, make explain them with the initial mention.
• Avoid using the name of the nominee or agency.

• Nominators can be co-workers, clients, family members, or members of the public; however, if a nominator does not directly work with the nominee, a secondary nominator within the CSSEA member or associate must second the nomination.
• Nominators confirm and guarantee the accuracy of all information submitted on the nomination.
• Self-nominations cannot be made.
• Nominees must work for or have retired within the previous 12 months from a CSSEA member or associate and nominations must be for work done in service to or on behalf of a CSSEA member or associate either as a permanent or contract employee.
• Volunteers are not eligible for nomination.
• Nominations must have the consent of the nominee prior to submission.
• Nominees’ Executive Directors or Chief Executive Officers must be aware of the nomination.
• Nominations for Executive Director or Chief Executive Officer must have the Board Chair’s approval.
• Submissions must include all components and not exceed the maximum number of words for the nomination.
• Nominations submitted after the official deadline will not be considered.
• Nominees can only win once per category.
• CSSEA may contact nominees, or nominators, for clarification of the information provided.
• Nominees must consent to the publication of his or her name, photo and/or video footage in CSSEA publications and on the website in connection with the BC Community Social Services Awards of Excellence in order for his or her nomination to be accepted.
• The awards committee will select up to four finalists in each category to go to the judging panel.
• The awards committee reserves the right to move a nomination to a different category if it feels that would be more appropriate, given a nominee's profile and experience. 
• All decisions of the judging panel relating to the awards will be final.
• Award recipients must be available to attend the Awards Luncheon in October each year. CSSEA will provide travel and 1 night's accommodation for the winner and a guest to attend the luncheon.
• CSSEA reserves the right to not present awards in all categories each year, depending on the quality of the nominations received.
• All nominations become the property of CSSEA.

• Recognition at the virtual Awards event in October
• Recognition in CSSEA News
• A copy of the video vignette produced to showcase the winner and his or her work
